sometimes we write to heal

I am working with over fifteen writers from all levels of expertise. I have come to a new realization.
Some of us write for fame, some for the art. Some of us write to exorcise our demons within, others write about the beauty of the world around us. Some of us write to explain things, some to complain about things.
There are so many personal reasons, it is hard to qualify or quantify them.
No matter what the reason; fame, fortune, or information, we really write to heal either each other…
or ourselves.

About 3by3 writing method

The author of 12 books, half of them textbooks, two novels and three self help. has struggled with his challenges of completion, distractions, plotting and writers block. Finally after getting stopped I stopped and analyzed what was going on and spent a lot of introspection, research and reading trying to locate the source of these issues. The result of was the 3by3 writing method - a three step program to start and then continue the process of completing a story all the way to publication.

One Response to sometimes we write to heal

  1. Esther says:

At the SCBWI conference this weekend, Newbery-winning Gary Schmidt, author of “The Wednesday Wars” and other books, spoke of how children’s book writers write to be of service to children. That was new perspective to me, and it resonates. And really, as you say, it is all about healing.
